NOOSE leader Corey Taylor weighed in on a debate about people using artificial intelligence to recreate fake tracks and artist voices.
The 49-year-old singer, who is about to release his second solo album, “CMF2”, clarified his position during an interview with Kerrang! radios Guest of Loz.
He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I don’t care about that bullshit, man, to be honest. I don’t know what people are trying to prove. Are they trying to prove that computers can do things as well as people? Because if So what’s the point? It’s an even worse example of technology taking over talent than what I’ve been ranting about for years with Professional tools and tuning and using the same sounds… And people keep saying ‘Oh, isn’t that cool?’ I’m like, no, that’s not cool. What are you – crazy? What? So now we have no more talent? The only thing we’re going to get that looks cool and new is from something that doesn’t even exist? Fuck you, man!”
He added: “Whenever people are raving in front of me about AI, I say, ‘You’re not talking to the right person. You have to walk by and talk to some idiot who doesn’t care. Because I hate it. I can not support it.
taylor previously discussed his disdain for AI during an interview earlier this month with “Loudwire Nights.” At the time, he said: “That’s cheap shit. I don’t know what human beings are – they keep opening Pandora’s box for love’s sake. God. That’s scary man. I thought deep fake was bad and now here comes the AI and all you do is teach this thing to do this or you tap this thing to do this and all d How much more do we want to get out of our own creativity? How much more do we want to make reality completely useless or better yet, how much do we want to completely devalue real talent, real creativity? , real hard work, real perseverance and a heart to the point now that people are going to wonder if it’s you or not. It’s so ridiculous.”
As for the recent AI-generated song that featured Chester Benningtonthe voice sings NOOSEIt is “Snuff”, Corey said: “As honored as I would be to have something real like this from Chester, it’s just not good. People have really gotten into the habit of walking over graves and they don’t care. That’s what bothers me the most, this real apathy for anything other than their own needs. How much do you need to be selfish?”
Just last month, Universal music had a song called “Have the heart on the hand”who used deeply faked vocals from their artists Duck And The weekendremoved from streaming services, saying in a statement that “training generative AI using our artists’ music” was “a violation of copyright law.”
Earlier this month, AVENGED SEVENFOLDIt is Mr. Shadows said he would “love” to have his voice cloned using artificial intelligence in order to create new songs. The singer, whose real name is Matt Sanderswas also excited about the possibilities, saying “AI can be incredibly useful” for songwriters. Mr. Shadows went on to say that AI gives fans the ability to use the work of their favorite artists as a machine learning library to create their own songs.
pop singer Grimeswhose real name is Claire Boucherrecently said she would “share 50% of the royalties on any successful AI-generated song that uses my voice.”
“Same deal as I would with any artist I collaborate with. Feel free to use my voice without penalty,” she tweeted.
