Country singer Morgan Wade has revealed she will be undergoing a double mastectomy later this year.
The 28-year-old ‘Wilder Days’ hitmaker exclusively told Page Six that after testing for the BRCA gene – a mutation in one of the breast cancer genes – she was faced with some bad news.
“I had the BRCA gene, it’s a breast cancer gene, so I’m going to have a double mastectomy in November,” she told Page Six at the Highways Festival in London on May 20.
“I’m going very hard until November, so November and December I have to rest.”
According to the National Cancer Institute, BCRA1 and BCRA2 are genes that produce proteins to help repair damaged DNA.
When a person inherits harmful variants of either of the two genes, they develop an increased risk of several types of cancer, including breast and ovarian.
“I feel good, I’m just pissed that I can’t train because I really like training,” Wade revealed, adding that she trains 7 days a week. “That’s my only scruples about it.”
“My mom had it, and my little cousin is going to have it, but it’ll be fine,” Wade continued, adding that she learned the news last year while in Europe.
The news comes just after the star announced that her second studio album “Psychopath” will be released on August 25.
The project follows his 2021 debut album “Reckless,” a record that notably topped Rolling Stone’s list of top country albums of the year.

“With ‘Psychopath,’ we did a really good job of taking ‘Reckless’ to the next level without it being all that different,” Wade told Page Six. “I’m excited, every song out there has its own sound and is completely different.”
Revealing the album will feature 13 tracks, Wade says the record will paint a picture of his life since the release of “Reckless.”
“(The album) is about where I’m at in life right now. Who’s so busy. It’s about growing up and being older, and starting to think, ‘Is it time to settle?” I think you’ll see a lot of that on the disc.
