When it comes to K-Pop artists, there is no set number of songs they are supposed to release each year. While a group’s fans will always be excited about new music from their favorite artists, most of them also like to see a balance of work and rest so the idols can stay healthy and happy. That being said, there is a huge difference in the number of songs that different third generation girl groups have released over the course of their careers, and as a result, a very different number of average songs released per year!
Here is an overview of the average number of songs released by 15 K-Pop girl groups each year, based on the total number of songs released and the number of years in operation. Note that the number of songs for each artist does not include instrumentals, alternate language versions of the original songs, remixes, or sub-unit/solo songs promoted outside of the band.
15. BLACKPINK
From BLACKPINK’s first year in 2016 until now, they have released a total of 30 songs. This gives them an average of 4.3 songs released every year!
14. A.O.
From AOA’s first year in 2012 till now, they have released a total of 54 songs. This gives them an average of 4.9 songs released every year!
13. Like Meki
From Weki Meki’s first year in 2017 till now, they have released a total of 33 songs. This gives them an average of 5.5 songs released each year!
12.EXID
From EXID’s first year in 2012 until now, they have released a total of 66 songs. This gives them an average of 6.0 songs per year!
11.MOMOLAND
From MOMOLAND’s first year in 2016 until their earlier disbandment in 2023, they released a total of 48 songs. This gives them an average of 6.9 songs released each year!
10. OH MY DAUGHTER
From OH MY GIRL’s first year in 2015 till now, they have released a total of 56 songs. This gives them an average of 7.0 songs per year!
9. APRIL
From APRIL’s first year in 2015 until their disbandment in 2022, they released a total of 50 songs. This gives them an average of 7.1 songs released each year!
8. CLC
From CLC’s first year in 2015 until their disbandment in 2022, they released a total of 51 songs. This gives them an average of 7.3 songs released each year!
7. WEIGHT
Since MAMAMOO’s first year in 2014 until now, they have released a total of 67 songs. This gives them an average of 7.4 songs released each year!
6. Cosmic Girls / WJSN
From Cosmic Girls’ first year in 2016 till now, they have released a total of 74 songs. This gives them an average of 10.6 songs released each year!
5. Lovelyz
From Lovelyz’ first year in 2014 until their disbandment in 2021, they released a total of 74 songs. This gives them an average of 10.6 songs released each year!
4. Red Velvet
From Red Velvet’s first year in 2014 until now, they have released a total of 127 songs. This gives them an average of 14.1 songs released each year!
3.FRIEND
From GFRIEND’s first year in 2015 until their disbandment in 2021, they released a total of 93 songs. This gives them an average of 15.5 songs per year!
2. Dreamcatcher
From Dreamcatcher’s first year in 2017 till now, they have released a total of 96 songs. This gives them an average of 16.0 songs per year!
1. TWICE
From TWICE’s first year in 2015 until now, they’ve released a total of 203 songs. This gives them an average of 25.4 songs released each year!
